FAQ's
(Frequently Asked Questions)

Will we see a ghost?

Such is the nature of the spirit world that we cannot guarantee you will see a full apparition. However many people have sensed the spirits in the hearses, felt the cold spots, had their hands touched, been prodded in the back or had their hair stroked unexplainably, or have experienced some other paranormal phenomenon. Even if you don't experience anything out of the ordinary in a paranormal sense, at least you will have a unique, interesting and fun worldly experience.

Do we get out of the vehicle and go inside places?

Due to public liability and security issues it is difficult to gain access to haunted locations. However, on the Parramatta, Windsor and Canberra tours we go into the grounds or outside a couple of haunted locations. The Sydney and Windsor tours both go into the haunted cellars of a historic hotel. On all hearse tours you are travelling in a mobile haunted location, ie a vehicle that has been verified by many psychics and others as being genuinely haunted.

How many can you take and what if there are only two of us?

We can take a maximum of nine per hearse on the Sydney tours and eight on the other tours (where we use a local host). You don't have to book all seats (unless you want the whole vehicle to yourselves) as there will be others along. We need a minimum of 4 to make it viable for us to run the tour.

How often do the tours run?

Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest nights, but tours often run during the week as well, as long as there are at least four persons booked.

How far ahead should we book?

For a big group on a Saturday night we suggest you book several weeks ahead. If there's only two of you then we should be able to fit you in with less notice.

What about payment?

If the tour is only a couple of weeks away we require payment in full when booking. Otherwise we require 50% deposit and the balance two weeks prior. Payment can be by credit card over the phone or eft, or send a cheque or money order. The first paid deposit gets the booking.

What's your refund policy?

No refunds for no-shows or cancellations less than 24 hours prior to departure.

Are there any special deals?

Unless stated otherwise, 10% discount applies if you book all seats with one payment. (Not on Saturday nights). Kids 2-12 half price.

Do I need to bring anything?

A camera is a good idea. Sometimes we have disposable cameras for sale in case you forget.

What if it rains?

The tour will still run unless the weather is extreme and it is deemed unsafe to continue (this has only happened one time).

Can we bring a bottle of beer, wine or champagne with?

Sorry our vehicles are tourist vehicles and it is a Ministry of Transport regulation that consumption of alcohol is not permitted in tourist vehicles unless the operator agrees.

Why do you not agree to allow consumption of alcohol in your tourist vehicles?

For the same reason we do not allow persons adversely affected by alcohol or drugs on the tour. Because we are running a ghost and history tour, not a party bus. Some persons will be trying to listen to the commentary and find noisy drunken persons annoying and objectionable. We also do not want to have to make numerous stops for you to have a pee, or have persons spilling drinks or being sick in our vehicles. There are also safety issues here and safety for our passengers is a primary concern. No exceptions to this rule. If you cannot enjoy a night out without being fuelled by alcohol then just go to the pub, not on our tour.
However the Sydney and Windsor tours both stop at a historic hotel where we will get you a complimentary beer, still or sparkling wine or a soft drink.

Was this really used as a hearse?

Yes of course! That's what they were built for and that's what they were used for prior to us putting seats in the back. Each of our hearses is the veteran of many funerals, and each one during their conversion revealed several casket keys in them. (These are usually carried in the hearse in case the loved ones would like one last look at the deceased before the burial or cremation). For further evidence see the many scratches on the rear chrome bumpers from sliding the caskets in and out of the vehicle.

How long have you been doing the tours?

Since early 2001.
